Christ Church Cathedral School

IA Play recently undertook a transformative project at Christ Church Cathedral School, addressing the challenges posed by uneven and unsafe outdoor surfaces. The objective was to create a natural-looking, safe, and functional space conducive to both play and learning.

The existing outdoor area at Christ Church Cathedral School had become a concern due to its irregular and hazardous surfacing. Recognizing the importance of a secure and engaging environment for pupils, the school collaborated with IA Play Solution to revamp the space. The project focused on replacing the deteriorated surfaces with a combination of wet pour, rubber mulch, and artificial grass to achieve a harmonious blend of aesthetics and safety.
Installation Details
Wet Pour: To provide a seamless and cushioned play area, wet pour rubber surfacing was installed. This material is known for its durability and ability to absorb impact, reducing the risk of injuries. Its smooth finish also allows for easy incorporation of colorful designs and patterns, enhancing the visual appeal of the playground.

Rubber Mulch: In areas where a more natural aesthetic was desired, rubber mulch was utilized. Made from recycled rubber chippings, this eco-friendly option mimics the appearance of natural wood mulch but offers superior longevity and minimal maintenance. It provides excellent shock absorption and remains resilient under various weather conditions.

Artificial Grass: To create green spaces that remain lush and vibrant throughout the year, artificial grass was installed. This solution offers the look and feel of natural grass without the associated upkeep, ensuring mud-free and clean areas suitable for outdoor learning and recreational activities.
The comprehensive resurfacing project has significantly enhanced the outdoor environment at Christ Church Cathedral School. Pupils now enjoy a versatile and safe space that supports a variety of activities, from physical play to outdoor classroom sessions. The combination of wet pour, rubber mulch, and artificial grass has not only improved safety standards but also created an inviting and aesthetically pleasing area that encourages exploration and learning.

This project exemplifies IA Play’s commitment to delivering tailored play and learning environments that prioritise safety, functionality, and visual appeal.
