Wayfield Primary School

IA Play has once again collaborated with Wayfield Primary School to revamp their Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) outdoor play area, creating a dynamic and engaging environment for the youngest learners.

The primary goal was to transform the existing EYFS outdoor space into a safe, stimulating, and versatile area that promotes exploration, learning, and physical activity. This comprehensive project involved the installation of new fencing, groundworks, a variety of play equipment, and specialized surfacing solutions.
Site Preparation: The project commenced with the installation of secure and child-friendly fencing to delineate the play area. Extensive groundworks were undertaken to prepare the site for the new installations, ensuring a stable and even foundation.

Play Equipment: A diverse range of equipment was selected to cater to various aspects of early childhood development:
Clamber Stack 3: A versatile climbing structure designed to enhance physical skills and encourage imaginative play.
Sand Play Tables & Mud Kitchen: These installations provide sensory experiences, fostering creativity and social interaction.
Water Tray: Engaging water play elements that introduce basic scientific concepts through hands-on learning.
Mud Café: A role-play area that stimulates imagination and collaborative play.
Timber Trail 5: An obstacle course promoting balance, coordination, and physical fitness.
– Enchantment Area: A themed space designed to inspire storytelling and creative expression.
Mound Tunnel With Slide: A fun feature that combines climbing and sliding, encouraging active play.
Zig Zag Traverse Wall: A climbing wall that challenges motor skills and builds confidence.
Surfacing: To ensure safety and enhance the aesthetic appeal, a combination of surfacing materials was used:
Bespoke Wet Pour Design A custom-designed wet pour surface featuring a roadway pattern, providing a dedicated track for scooters and bikes.
Rubber Mulch Area: An eco-friendly surfacing option that offers a natural appearance and excellent shock absorption properties.

The revitalised EYFS outdoor area at Wayfield Primary School now offers a rich and varied environment that supports active play, sensory exploration, and imaginative learning. The thoughtful selection of equipment and surfacing solutions has created a safe and inviting space that caters to the developmental needs of young children. This project underscores IA Play’s dedication to delivering tailored play environments that inspire and engage.
